Frequently Asked Questions...
What jobs do you suggest for me?
im 15 and want to start earning some money for college.
i do taekwondo and my master says that he might give me "spending money" starting in the fall. i would have to instruct classes full of kids. i have no problem instructing. but i would like to have an actual job of earning actual money. i wouldnt feel right making money by doing something that seems easy and voluntary.
and i do not want to work at food restaurants or anything.
i was thinking about working at a Hallmark or CVS or something.
i read online that i could get paid for individual work like making invitations with the art of calligraphy. im pretty good at it but need practice. if you have any other suggestions like that, please dont hold back on me!
also what jobs did you have around my age? and how was your experience?
thanks a lot!!
Answer:
Both my teens (one daughter and one son) when 15 worked as life guards. So if you swim well the investment in training really pays off. My son was making 10 dollars an hour this year as a life guard at age 15. Not a bad income grossing 400 dollars a week all summer. There is very little else that pays quite that well except for commission sales with is rarely available for 15 year olds. Also can work year tround if you find indoor pools the YMCA etc.
What kind of jobs did I have at that age? I worked for a landscape company building railroad tie retaining walls at a nearby college campus. I worked my butt off in unbelievable heat and humidity (imagine summer in southern TN.) Was a great experience - I learned the value of hard work and education so I would never have to work that hard again. I also bulked up - oh and I got paid $2.60 an hour. LOL makes me feel old.
