Can We Stave Off The Attack Of Slovenliness?
When it comes to style, there's a growing phenomenon related to it that illustrates that it might be an endangered species due to the shabby style of dress that's slowly overwhelming culture along with high style. Can we stave off the attack of slovenliness? Maybe and maybe not. It seems we're deliberately dressing shabbily, to the point where an eager Salvation Army worker tries to drag us to a halfway house when he sees us, unfortunately.
Experts aren't sure when the tipping point occurred, but it's apparent that having a bit of style and class is an excuse to be hooted at by a generation of people who would look at applying a bit of eau de parfum spray to keep one from being less fragrant than one should. In fact, some people would look at the only use for such a spray as being to cover up the smell of not having bathed in a week or to prevent one from thinking that a bear has entered the room.
Naturally, it has to be accepted that there is always going to be rebellion among younger people, especially. This is illustrated whenever a person is asked for the time. Younger people would pull out a cellular phone to give the questioner the time while older people -- men especially -- would look down at their men's sport watch, for example, to give the time. Why younger people prefer whipping out a phone to tell the time may cause some head scratching at first.
Why this is so -- when having a watch on the wrist is far more convenient -- probably has to do with the desire to show off the cell phone and its cutesy little decorations and color schemes than anything else. Considering that a typical watch today contains more computing power than all the computers used to put humans on the moon, it's hard to see any other reason for why one would forgo this handy little instrument.
Women's fashion has also suffered greatly at the hands of the attack of the slovenly hordes. Certainly, there are plenty of women who can still bring it, fashion-wise, when they want, but it's also the case that -- outside of a Paris fashion show -- haute couture is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Just look at a pair of women's brown boots, for example. Nowadays, some look like futuristic combat boots that would be worn by a Marine, sadly.
It would seem that the modern age has helped to drive much of this and that certain generations of people may be reacting to all of the technology that hits them from all sides in a way that almost requires them to dismiss timeless and classic style. This goes even for something as simple as a wristwatch, which is in a veritable Texas cage match with a cell phone for the right to tell a person what time of day it is.
In the 'good old days, ' a watch was meant for one thing and a telephone for another and never did the twain meet. Does anybody even remember being able to pick up a phone and call for the time from a real live human being? The answer to that question probably is 'no, ' and it will for sure be a historical curiosity when a watch is found on the wrist of a person traveling between Earth and Mars, sadly.

I have quite a few birthdays coming up and moneys a little tight at the mo so ive decided to make the presents this year. Im making door signs but I don't know how to get the shabby chic style writing that I keep seeing everywhere. (thin black writing with dots) Do they use templates/ stencils? paints or pen? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I think there are special pens you can get for that sort of writing... Like, you press down on it where you want the dots... Saw these when I was really little, so I can't really remember what they were called... Like, 'spider pens', or something.
